SungKyunKwan Scandel

Nation’s highest educational institute and the oldest university in East Asia that has distinguished history of 500 years; it is Sung-kyun-kwan University. But if you are thinking of Sungkyunkwan as a boring study place, you underestimated it. It is the place full of vitality, where youthfulness is flowering, and the school where you learn to be harmonized! And there is a young Confucian scholar Kim Yoon-hui, who gets into this forbidden place for women, hiding her gender. Yoon-hui’s father, Kim Seung-hyun was a scholar at Sungkyunkwan and also a good friend of the Crown prince. King Yeongjo calls him before the day of his death and asks him to hand down his secret book Kum-deung-ji-sa across the generations. However, Kim Seung-hyun gets killed by the opposing faction and the book has disappeared. Yoon-hui was only 7-year-old when her father got murdered. Yoon-hui has a talent for writing, which had inherited from her father. She starts to stay at Sungkyunkwan and meets three good friends: Seon-joon, Jae-shin, Yong-ha. And Yoon-hui slowly gets fascinated by King Jeongjo’s vision and becomes to understand what her father truly dreamt of.

Can you guess my first reason for watching this? ---> Micky is in it. xD Hey, I'm just a fan supporting my fellow devotee.
And for a drama that takes place not in the 21st century, it is actually very entertaining. There are only 20 episodes total, and it has its comedic moments too.
I guess the only thing that frustrated me was the main girls character. Because I thought she was suppose to be seen as someone who cares for getting an education when in reality she is the type of person who wants to get things done and pass by things without catching any attention. Therefore leading to her not realizing the potential that she is not taking.
And it especially irritated me how Micky's character towards the end was being kind of a jerk. Why do Kdramas insist on the girl falling for the jerk? And the good guy always looses the girl.

This is something I have learned from watching many Korean dramas:

1.  If there is someone who is going to die or has already died, the reason for death is always cancer or some illness that has no treatment.

2.  The main girl always falls for the main jerk, and the main good guy is always left behind.

3.  At a restaurant, most of the time they are eating meat.

4.  If they're not drinking at a bar, they are most likely at a coffee shop drinking coffee.

5.  The character in agony goes to a alcohol bar (or any type of place that sells alcoholic drinks) by him or herself to 'ponder' about what just happened.

6.  When people get drunk, they almost always pour out their emotions to whoever is near, hick-up uncontrollably, and saved by the person they are attached to.

7.  When you are drunk, you are allowed to receive a piggyback ride from the person that cares about you.
8.  In frustration, a character will almost always end their sentences with something that roughly sounds like "aisssh".

9. If a character misunderstands something, they will never be told until the very end. And then they will feel guilty for not knowing.

The list can go on, but this is all I have for now. :) Meanwhile, enjoy these lovely pictures from the drama.

Although I am still not done watching it right now (as of 10 November 2010), I have to say that it is entertaining to watch. And mostly because I am not the type to be interested in these type of things, it is interesting to see how the drama builds up between these characters. :)

There are some actual members of the group who aren't in this variety show, but they done't seem very important to begin with..

The Birth Of The Rich

Genre: Drama, Romance, Comedy
Available Here for watching.
Please enjoy. ^^b

A lovely story of the higher class and those below them. Within the circle of a spoiled brat,
who only cares about having everything fabulous, including a man who's main ambition
is to increase his company's value even if it means blackmailing and stabbing, a daughter
of one of the richest card companies who is so cheap with money, and a man (Seok Bong) who believes he is the son of a chaebol (someone of great wealth and social status. usually a family that has kept the business within their family and use their family name), but finds out he has a life threatening disease but does not have the means to pay for treatment. A lot of things can happen.
I really like this drama, and it kind of revolves more around the small percentage of the high class in South Korea. Plus, it's very funny. I learned a few phrases from this drama.
Please enjoy. ^^

Both of them then start working at a Coffee Shop where Choi Han Kyul's grandmother put him in charge of. As time passes, the two create a bond that can't be broken.

I really liked this drama, although it didn't catch my attetion at the first episode since I was watching another drama which I will mention later ^^, but it's very sweet and funny. And if you find watching a townboy girl trying to mask herself as a guy interesting, then what is better to watch than Coffee Prince? :D
